Iowa Heartland Habitat and Habitat for Humanity International are two separate 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organizations. While Habitat for Humanity International, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, provides training, educational resources, brand support, and connections to donated materials for affiliates worldwide, it does not directly build homes or manage local programs. Donations to Habitat for Humanity International do not fund local home builds, repairs, or other programs in Iowa Heartland Habitat’s four-county service area.

A safe, stable home is the foundation for better health, financial security, and overall life satisfaction. Substandard housing—marked by issues like mold, pests, and overcrowding—can lead to chronic health conditions, financial strain, and instability.

Homeownership creates lasting impact by providing:

-Financial stability and wealth-building – A fixed mortgage offers predictability, while rent often rises year after year. Homeownership is one of the primary ways families build long-term financial security.

-Opportunities for children – Stable housing leads to better academic performance, higher graduation rates, and improved future prospects.

-Stronger, more vibrant communities – Homeowners invest in their neighborhoods, creating safer, more connected, and thriving places to live.

This is why we build.
Iowa Heartland Habitat relies on contributions from individuals, corporations, and groups to build and repair homes in our community. 90% of all funds raised go directly to our mission. Gifts made from each county support the work of that county.
Habitat for Humanity does not require or encourage religious participation as a condition for assistance. We do not partner with individuals or organizations that insist on proselytizing as part of their work with us.

This means we provide housing and services without requiring people to adhere to any faith, convert, or engage with religious messaging.
